Today is the blessed Arafat Day where all the Haj pilgrims gather at the Plains of Arafat before proceeding to the Holy City.

But why do they still connect such terrorist act with Islam?
Have you read verse 102 of chapter 2. البقرة in the Holy Quran?
وَاتَّبَعوا ما تَتلُوا الشَّيٰطينُ عَلىٰ مُلكِ سُلَيمٰنَ ۖ وَما كَفَرَ سُلَيمٰنُ وَلٰكِنَّ الشَّيٰطينَ كَفَروا يُعَلِّمونَ النّاسَ السِّحرَ وَما أُنزِلَ عَلَى المَلَكَينِ بِبابِلَ هٰروتَ وَمٰروتَ ۚ وَما يُعَلِّمانِ مِن أَحَدٍ حَتّىٰ يَقولا إِنَّما نَحنُ فِتنَةٌ فَلا تَكفُر ۖ فَيَتَعَلَّمونَ مِنهُما ما يُفَرِّقونَ بِهِ بَينَ المَرءِ وَزَوجِهِ ۚ وَما هُم بِضارّينَ بِهِ مِن أَحَدٍ إِلّا بِإِذنِ اللَّهِ ۚ وَيَتَعَلَّمونَ ما يَضُرُّهُم وَلا يَنفَعُهُم ۚ وَلَقَد عَلِموا لَمَنِ اشتَرىٰهُ ما لَهُ فِى الءاخِرَةِ مِن خَلٰقٍ ۚ وَلَبِئسَ ما شَرَوا بِهِ أَنفُسَهُم ۚ لَو كانوا يَعلَمونَ
English-Sarwar translation:
They followed the incantations that the devils used against the kingdom of Solomon. Solomon did not hide the truth but the devils did. They taught magic to the people and whatever was revealed to the two angels, Harut and Marut, in Babylon. The two angels did not teach anything to anyone without saying, "Our case is a temptation for the people, so do not hide the truth." People learned something from the two angels that could cause discord between a man and his wife. However, they could harm no one except by the permission of God. In fact, the (people) learned things that would harm them and render them no benefit. They knew very well that one who engaged in witchcraft would have no reward in the life hereafter. Would that they had known that they had sold their souls for that which is vile!

دعاء آخر السنة
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ. اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ أَجْمَعِيْنَ. اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّهُ قَدْ مَضَى عَلَيْنَا مِنْ مُدَّةِ حَيَاتِنَا عَامٌ قَلَّدْتَنَا فِيْهِ مِنْ نِعَمِكَ مَا لاَ نَسْتَطِيْعُ أَدَاءَ الشُّكْـِر عَلَيْهِ. وَحَفِظْتَنَا فِيْهِ مِنَ اْلأَسْوَاءِ وَالْمَكَارِهِ مَا لاَ نَسْـتَطِيْعُ دَفْعَهُ.
وَقَدْ أَوْدَعْنَاهُ مِنَ اْلأَعْمَالِ مَا أَنْتَ عَلِيْمٌ بِهِ، فَمَا وَفَّـقْـتَنَا فِيْهِ مِنْ حَسَنَاتٍ فَتَقَبَّلْ ذَلِكَ مِنَّا، وَاكْتُبْهُ لَنَا عِنْدَكَ مِنْ اْلأَعْمَالِ الصَّالِحَاتِ، وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا مَا دَاخَلْنَا فِيْهِ مِنَ شَوَائِبِ الرِّيَاءِ وَالْعُجُبِ وَالتَّصَنُّعِ وَغَيْرِ ذَلِكَ، وَاجْعَلْهُ وَسِيْلَةً لَنَا إِلَى رِضَاكَ عَنَّا وَزُلْفَى لَدَيْكَ، وَمَا قَارَفْنَا فِيْهِ مِنْ سَيِّئَاتٍ وَخَطِيْئَاتٍ وَأَفْعَالٍ غَيْـِر مَرْضِيَّاتٍ وَنِيَّاتٍ غَيْرِ صَالِحَاتٍ بِجَوَارحِنَا وَقُلُوْبِنَا، فَنَسْأَلُكَ اللَّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ ذَاتِكَ وَأَسْمَائِكَ وَصِفَاتِكَ أَنْ تَغْفِرَ الذُّنُوْبَ كُلَّهَا، وَتَسْتُرَ الْعُيُوْبَ كُلَّهَا، وَتَتَفَضَّلَ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ وَاسِعِ جُوْدِكَ الْعَظِيْمِ بِجَمِيْعِ مَا نُؤَّمِلُ، وَأَنْ تُبَدِّلَ سَـيِّئَاتِنَا حَسَنَاتٍ، وَتُبَلِّغَنَا مِنْ رِضَاكَ عَنَّا أَقْصَى اْلأُمْنِيَّاتِ وَنِهَايَةِ الْمُرَادَاتِ.
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّهُ قَدِ اسْتَقْبَلَنَا مِنْ بَعْدِ عَامِنَا الْمَاضِى عَامٌ جَدِيْدٌ، مَا نَدْرى مَاذَا سَبَقَ فِى عِلْمِكَ فِيْنَا، وَرَجَاؤُنَا أَنْ تَفْتَحَ لَنَا فِى هَذَا الْعَامِ الْجَدِيْدِ بَابَ التَّوْبَةِ الصَّادِقَةِ الْخَالِصَةِ الَّتِى لاَ يَعْقُبُهَا نَكَثٌ، وَأَنْ تَرْزُقَنَا فِيْهِ مِنَ التَّوْفِيْقِ لِلأَعْمَالِ الصَّالِحَةِ الْمَقْبُوْلَةِ عِنْدَكَ مَا يُوْجِبُ لَنَا رِضَاكَ عَنَّا، وَأَنْ تَعْمُرَ جَوَارِحَنَا بِطَاعَتِكَ الْمَرْضِيَّةِ عِنْدَكَ، وَقُلُوْبَنَا بِحُبِّكَ وَحُبِّ مَنْ تُحِبُّـهُ وَحُبِّ مَا تُحِبُّهُ، وَتُوَسِّعَ فِى قُلُوْبِنَا وَتُؤَهِّلَهَا لِمَعْرِفَتِكَ الْخَاصَّةِ الَّتِى أَكْرَمْتَ بِهَا عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِيْنَ، وَتَسْلُكَ بِنَا سَبِيْلَ اْلإِتِّبَاعِ لِحَبِيْبِكَ أَشْرَفِ خَلْقِكَ عَلَيْكَ سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَاجْعَلْنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْوَفَاءِ بِحَقِّهِ، وَاجْعَلْهُ لَنَا عِنْدَكَ شَاهِدًا بِالصِّدْقِ فِى الْعَمَلِ بِمَا دَعَانَا إِلَيْهِ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ. وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ أَجْمَعِيْنَ . وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ. الفاتحة .
END OF HIJRAH YEAR DOA
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
All praises be to Allah, Lord of all Universe. Praises be to Prophet Muhammad saw, his family and his companions.
Oh Allah, a year has passed in our life. You have bestowed on us the Greatness of Your nikmah in which we could never imagine and You have protected us from harm when we cannot detach ourselves from it. We have done deeds in which only You have knowledge of its good or bad.
Oh Allah, if the deed that we have done is in accordance to Your Teachings, please accept those deeds as meaningful deeds in your eyes. However, if those deeds have been accompanied with boastfulness and envy or we have done ourselves wrong, or its intention had been tainted, we seek Your Forgiveness and we implore that You hide all these wrongdoings. Please bless us with goodness and Your bountiful provisions.
Oh Allah, the New Year has crawled in and the current year will leave us shortly. However, we do not know what is in store for us in the coming year. We are ignorant as to where our life will head to. It is our hope that You allow us to begin this New Year with the door of Forgiveness so that we do not end this life in loss. Oh Allah, we plead that you shower Taufiq to us in this year for us to continue to do good deeds that receive Your pleasure and a harmonious life that you bless.
Oh Allah, we seek your Might to safeguard our physical self so that we continue to worship you. Safe keep us so that our hearts are filled with love. Please open our hearts so that we seek you always just like how you open the hearts of those who are righteous. Please place us amongst those who keep to their promises and able to fulfill our responsibilities. Please make our life a witness to all deeds that you have enjoined us to do, Oh Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Giving.
اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ. اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ أَجْمَعِيْنَ. اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا قَدْ مَدَدْنَا يَدَ افْتِقَارِنَا فِى لَيْلِنَا وَنَهَارِنَا مُتَوَسِّلاً بِكَ وَإِلَيْكَ، وَطَامِعًا فِيْكَ وَفِيْمَا لَدَيْكَ، وَرَاغِبًا فِيْكَ وَفِيْمَا عِنْدَكَ. وَقَدِ اسْـتَقْبَلَنَا عَامٌ جَدِيْدٌ تَصْرِفُنَا فِيْهِ أَقْدَارُكَ وَتُحَرِّكُنَا فِيْهِ إِرَادَتُكَ وَقُدْرَتُكَ، وَقَدْ مَدَدْنَا أَكُفَّ اْلإِبْتِهَالِ إِلَيْكَ، وَعَوَّلْنَا فِى مَطَالِبِنَا كُلِّهَا عَلَيْكَ، وَقَدَّمْنَا فِى وِجْهَتِنَا أَشْرَفَ الْوَسَائِلِ إِلَيْكَ، وَقَدْ أَطْمَعَتْنَا مُعَامَلَتُكَ لَنَا فِيْمَا مَضَـى مِنْ عُمْرِنَا، أَنْ تُبْـقِيَ سِتْرَكَ الْجَمِيْلَ عَلَيْنَا وَمَدَدَكَ الْوَافِرَ لَدَيْنَا، وَأَنْ تُبْدِيَ فِى جَسَدِنَا وَقُلُوْبِنَا وَجَوَارِحِنَا قُوَّةً نَاهِضَةً وَهَبْتَهَا اْلأَقْوِيَاءَ مِنْ خَاصَّةِ عِبَادِكَ نَتَنَعَّمُ بِهَا فِى مَظَاهِرِ أَجْسَامِنَا وَمَظَاهِرِ أَرْوَاحِنَا، وَتَهَبَ لَنَا بِهَا انْشِرَاحًا فِى صُدُوْرِنَا وَقُوَّةً فِى يَقِيْنِنَا وَثَبَاتًا فِى دِيْنِنَا وَصَلاَحًا فِى سَرِيْرَتِنَا وَعَلاَنِيَّتِنَا. وَأَذْهِبْ عَنَّا كُلَّ هَـمٍّ وَغَـمٍّ وَضِيْقِ صَدْرٍ وَحُزْنٍ، وَاجْعَلْ عَلَيْنَا وَاقِيَةً مِنْ حِفْظِكَ وَرِعَايَتِكَ تُقِيْنَا جَمِيْعَ اْلأَسْوَاءِ وَجَمِيْعَ الْهُمُوْمِ وَجَمِيْعَ اْلأَكْدَارِ.
اَللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْ تَضَرُّعَنَا وَابْتِهَالَنَا وَاقْبَلْ تَوَجُّهَنَا فِى كُلِّ أَحْوَالِنَا يَا غِيَاثَ الْمُسْـتَغِيْثِيْنَ أَغِثْنَا وَيَا دَرْكَ الْهَالِكِيْنَ أَدْرِكْنَا. اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ هَذَا الْعَامَ الْجَدِيْدَ مُفْتَتَحًا بِالْفَرَجِ الْعَاجِلِ وَاللُّطْفِ الشَّامِلِ لَنَا وَلِلْمُسْلِمِيْنَ أَجْمَعِيْنَ وَابْسُطْ فِيْهِ يَا رَبِّ بِسَاطَ رَحْمَتِكَ الْخَاصَّةِ عَلَى عِبَادِكَ أَجْمَعِيْنَ رَحْمَةً يُذْهِبُ بِهَا الْقَحْطَ وَالْقَنَطَ وَالْهَمَّ، وَأَبْقِ يَا رَبِّ أَعْوَامَنَا الْمُسْتَقْبَلَةَ فِى مَسَرَّاتٍ وَأَفْرَاحٍ وَسُرُوْرٍ وَانْشِرَاحٍ نَلْتَقِطُ مِنْ تِلْكَ اْلأَوْقَاتِ صَفْوَ عَيْشِهَا وَنَعِيْمَ أُنْسِهَا. وَاجْعَلِ الْعَامَ الْقَابِلَ مِنْ أَبْرَكِ اْلأَعْوَامِ عَلَيْنَا وَأَشْرَفِهَا، وَاجْعَلْنَا فِيْهِ مِنْ أَسْعَدِ النَّاسِ بِكَ، وَأَوْجَهِ الْخَلْقِ لَدَيْكَ. وَاغْفِرْ يَارَبِّ جِنَايَتَنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ حَسَنَاتِنَا وَتَجَاوَزْ عَنْ سَيِّئَاتِنَا وَبَارِكْ فِى أَوْقَاتِنَا وَسَاعَاتِنَا وَحَرَكَاتِنَا وَسَكَنَاتِنَا. وَصَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى سَيِّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ وَسَلَّمَ. وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِيْنَ.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
All praises be to Allah, Lord of all Universe. Praises be to Prophet Muhammad saw, his family and his companions.
Oh Allah, we raise our hands to You during the day and night and we seek the generosity of Your Bountiful wealth through your beautiful names and at this time when we are deep in love for You and all love that projects Your Greatness.
Oh Allah. The New Year is near as you how you had planned it be as qada and qadar in Loh Mahfuz. As your creation who constantly seeks your blessings. The coming of the New Year has given us yet another opportunity to raise our hands in prayer asking for Your Mercy. We seek only from You. We seek your continued guidance and knowledge just like how you have guided us throughout our life time. You have perfected our life and livelihood with your bountiful provisions. Please make us, our hearts as well as our physique strong just like how you have given strength to those whom you have chosen. Through this strength, we hope it be guard us against ill doings be it physically or spiritually. Oh Allah Al Mighty, we implore to your to grant us intellectual strength, peace, strength in our confidence, steadfastness in upholding our religion and goodness for ourselves and those amongst us.
Oh Allah, please protect us from anything that troubles us, thoughts that confuses us, experience that saddens us and narrows our hearts. Please safeguard us from all ill doings, harm and confusion. Oh Allah, we seek your Bounty to give what we have sought for, Oh Allah, Lord of those who gives assistance, please help us. Oh Protector of all harm, please protect us from harm and turmoil. Most Gracious, Most Merciful, please open this New Year with success, peace for us and all Muslim brothers who are working in your Cause. Please make the coming years with beautiful experience so that we can taste the nikmat in living. Let us be the happiest people with You. Oh Allah, please forgive us for all our wrongdoings and please accept our good deeds. Please bless our our actions and how we spend our time.
Oh Allah, please protect our country Singapore from harm. Please eradicate any source that may disrupt our peacefulness. Please help us to maintain our country’s peace and progress in your blessings, Lord of all Mighty.

اللَّهُ نورُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالأَرضِ ۚ مَثَلُ نورِهِ كَمِشكوٰةٍ فيها مِصباحٌ ۖ المِصباحُ فى زُجاجَةٍ ۖ الزُّجاجَةُ كَأَنَّها كَوكَبٌ دُرِّىٌّ يوقَدُ مِن شَجَرَةٍ مُبٰرَكَةٍ زَيتونَةٍ لا شَرقِيَّةٍ وَلا غَربِيَّةٍ يَكادُ زَيتُها يُضيءُ وَلَو لَم تَمسَسهُ نارٌ ۚ نورٌ عَلىٰ نورٍ ۗ يَهدِى اللَّهُ لِنورِهِ مَن يَشاءُ ۚ وَيَضرِبُ اللَّهُ الأَمثٰلَ لِلنّاسِ ۗ وَاللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيءٍ عَليمٌ
English-Sarwar translation

God is the light of the heavens and the earth. A metaphor for His light is a niche in which there is a lamp placed in a glass. The glass is like a shining star which is lit from a blessed olive tree that is neither eastern nor western. Its oil almost lights up even though it has not been touched by the fire. It is light upon light. God guides to His light whomever He wants. God uses various metaphors. He has the knowledge of all things.

Al-Mawaddah Mosque invited Mr. Teo Ser Luck, Mayor North East District, as the guest-of-honour for their Qurban rites during Eid Ul Adha on Wednesday, 17 November 2010.
I was happy to see Mr. Syed Isa Mohamed Semait, Mufti of Singapore, to be present during the blessed event. I believe that day will be my last handshake with him as Mufti since his post will be handed over to his Deputy Mufti, Ustaz Fatris Bakaram, on 1st January 2011.
What happens when the Mufti and Mayor are present in a crowded place?

The Elegant Hijab
The pea is a splendid plant. It proudly displays its strong green Hijab. Which protects it from the hot and cold weather and guards it from insects. Allah has blessed the pea with a special Hijab, because without it, the seeds would scatter, dry up and die.
The orange keeps itself within its shiny orange Hijab to protect its delicious fruit. Otherwise it loses its taste too.
So are the banana, the coconut and the pomegranate. Each one has an elegant and unique Hijab, which protects it from disease and destruction.
The jewel of the sea, the pearl, has been given a very tough and rugged Hijab - oyster shell. It protects it from sea animals and keeps it sparkling and shining inside.
However, the most beloved of Allah in all His creation is the Muslim girl who wears the Hijab. She knows it is a gift from Allah. It protects her from harm, injury and mischief. She wears it knowing it gives her dignity, beauty and respect. So precious she can be that she hides herself beneath her Hijab.

I know of someone who puts on the Hijab and she looks beautiful in it.
Unfortunately, due to peer pressure she does not put it on but claimed that her life has improved (which I disagree, of course!).
May Allah provide her strength and character to uphold her islamic ways and with the blessing of Allah may I be able to give her support of any kind.
May Allah help me to help her!
